Hello, We are happy to announce that this release passed Spotify Connect certification. Rest assured that we are working on all remaining issues.and more. Upgrading to this version from the previous beta release in March, caused Tidal streaming interruptions via Roon (Ethernet connection) every 5 seconds. Tidal streaming via chromecast audio connected via optical at 220pro worked, perfectly though. Also, when using Spotify App on my phone to stream to Devialet works, as it did with the previous releases BUT, when changing the volume via the spotify app, Devialet continuously increases and decreases volume by itself, even when switched to standby and turned back on again. And it does that for every source selected.
Only a reset helped my to resolve that issue. These were the issues experienced by me. I resolved both issues by going back to the previous beta. Was using 12.2.6 as had problems with 12.2.10. Loaded this 12.2.12 beta 14 today. Have a 250 Pro connected by Ethernet, DHCP on and Wifi disabled.
Installed software. Powered down, inserted configuration card, powered up. Air working perfectly up to 192/24. UPnP working perfectly up to 192/24 using bubble uPnP (Android) or Mconnect (iOS) Airplay works fine from a MacBook, only problem was sending a 192/24 file from an iPad via Airplay (which I would never do anyway).
Auto-detect and switching between Air, Airplay and uPnP all working. Usb has always worked in all versions.
Problem of occasionally unresponsive iOS app on start-up from standby has disappeared. VERY IMPRESSED WITH THIS BETA. Francois You're welcome. Pulling out the ethernet cable and using wifi will do the trick, but for any others using ethernet, the wifi has to be disabled in the configurator.
Otherwise, it seems Air will try and use both at the same time and fail badly. I suspect this is because of the way Expert hunts for wifi/ethernet aimed at it, irrespective of what source you may select manually from the iOS remote, source elector button or front panel button.
I agree with the many forum beta users that this is likely now a release candidate. I have suggested to Mathieu and it is about time there is a user manual explaining: 1. Set-up best practise, such as the wifi/ethernet issue above 2. The principles as to how Expert auto-selects sources 3.
Things not to do, like use Air and read news sites with embedded video at the same time. Ok - I have been using the latest Beta version since its release - and I have not encountered ANY issues in my network setup. I do not even get the 'transport in use' error anymore. I am treating this as an ' Alpha' release. Congratulations to the team at Devialet - excellent work by the team at Devialet, hats off to Devialet Engineers who have given us access to the beautiful sound with network friendly optionality. For me now its simply going back to enjoying uninterrupted magic of Devialet sound via various inputs including my favourite Roon/ Tidal. Thank you to the Devialet team!!!
Sverre, Using Qobuz desktop app on OSX on a MacBook Pro, I can switch from Airplay to Devialet AIR and to DNLA/uPnP without any problems. I also use an ethernet connection. There is a bit of a lag for HD streams.
I found that if you want to use Airplay, you have to disable Devialet Air. There is also a minor quirk. If I switch in the Qobuz App from Devialet Air to uPNP, which is also going via Devialet Air, the music switches instantly. If I do it the other way, from uPnP to Devialet Air, it switches off Devialet Air. One click on the Air icon and the music comes back on. Sverre I also have mconnect iOS app on my iPhone.
It is really excellent, connects to Qobuz, Tidal, several other services, QMusic, miniserve, chromecast, no doubt other things. I use it as a uPnP front end from my phone as I mostly stream in HD from Qobuz, but you can switch between Airplay, Googlecast and uPnP devices instantly.
It will switch from sending to the Devialet by uPnP to Airplay instantly. I even tried switching from uPnP to Airplay = Aries streamer = Devialet, which also works fine.
The only issue there is that the Devialet does not switch automatically to usb (my Aries is connected by usb). Again, the start-up volume is about -70db. Point being, I've tried three Airplay clients (Devialet, Aries and the iPhone) and all are OK.
Have you updated your iPhone software or check sound settings? Sverre, For most of my music listening my system is very simple, a Devialet 250 Pro connected to an Asus internet access point. The Aries Mini is now only used as a wireless server containing a 1tb SSD music library.
The small miracle that is B14 enables the Expert Pro to be used stress-free with a range of third party uPnP, Air and Airplay players, and my kids use it with Spotify. Most other manufacturers have their own app, not yet so for Devialet, but we are promised a Spark app for Expert at some point. I and many others have tested B14 to destruction and there are very few issues reported, minor at worst. If you are still having problems, might I suggest a fresh reload of B14, insert on a clean card and power up from the mains or power cord. After install, power down, insert config card and power on again.
Otherwise, try with another iOS device (or even do this first). Stevensegal, FYI, I received an updated link to download the FW 12.2.12 + DOS 2.2.0 BETA14 from Devialet today (as if they would have been following this thread and decided to step in), installed it and now everything works fine. It's hard to say if this means that my original download was faulty or not, but it could of course have been the case. Did I do anything else differently this time. Well, I did format the SD card before copying the files and I did power up from the power cord to do the upgrade. I also started with the default config after the upgrade and then loaded my custom configuration.
Again, thanks a lot for your support on this matter. It's good to know that there is a helpful community out there. I have just installed 12.3.0 version that was released to the Beta testers on 11 June 2018. As I stated previously I no issues with the previous version. This version has more optionality, therefore requires further tinkering - in my case I had to study the variables to ensure Roon and Devialet worked via ethernet rather than wifi (both now available via AIR source input).
I noticed that there were two options for the Devialet in my network so I had to disable the non-Roon option to make it work (including disabling the wifi). The main thing here is to make sure that you can ping the IP address on your PC/ Mac to ensure that the Devialet configured properly in your network before setting your custom confguration.
I have say it took me no more than an hour of tinkering and adjusting the settings (including the settings in Roon) - now its not only working fine, it provides for more options like spotify direct whch my kids use, Airplay etc and changing sources is now a breeze without having the 'transport in use' error. To me this version is an Alpha plus - congratulations to the team at Devialet for bringing us not only the increased functionality but also the magical smooth sound that i now hear without any issues!!
