Right, but there aren’t as many Macs as there are PCs. Personally I think it would be a no brained for them to add offline viewing for the Mac but I suspect that the development cost was always a factor. Maybe now that will be different. Then again, I stopped subscribing to Netflix a while ago in favor of Amazon Prime (something almost every student has as well since it’s so cheap for a year compared to Netflix). That’s the nice thing about streaming stuff, we can come and go as we please. I’m an on again off again HBO user too.
Anyway, I think it’s been more important to have tablets and phones to have offline viewing and since windows puts itself on a lot of two in ones and such, plus the significantly larger user base, add to that the added cost to make said app for the Mac, and that’s why I could see them passing on it for now. iOS apps are not coming to mac OS, that is not what Apple said. Apple said that apps for either mac OS or iOS will be made using a similar structure, making porting apps really easy.
They said this will take at least a year. When it does happen it is still up to the developer whether they want to make use of it. If netflix wanted to do this they could have done so easily. They have made their app for shitty integrated TV OSes. If they wanted you to have offline play on mac you would have it.

I've done a lot of troubleshooting for people with this issue. Here's some tips I can give. First, do not install or move the NetFlix app to SD card. You will most likely have weird problems with downloads if you do.
Second, try power cycling your phone and see if they come back. Third, if they don't, try uninstalling the NetFlix app, restart your phone, then reinstall it. Finally, if you get a 'You have downloads on too many devices' error and the troubleshooting they have on their help center doesn't fix it, call their support, as they can fix the problem for you. If I'm lucky I can get downloads to 'stick' for 3-7 days at best. I try to keep a few eps of something for those times when no network is available. Neither my Android tablet, phones (Note III and S8+), or Windows 10 has been able to keep any show more than a week.
The shows just vanish. I've pretty much stuck to just Netflix exclusive shows too so there is really no reason they should expire. The first time I tried was with S1 of Dick Van Dyke. That barely lasted 2 days then was gone. I think this is just a poorly implemented or explained feature.
